So last night this table actually asks us to turn off our music because it was “offensive”

This was a group of roughly five or six people, presumably Christians. They were seated next to three young Latinos who were speaking loudly in Spanish and doing a lot of laughing/giggling.

I didn’t recognize the song that was playing at that particular moment that the most anal retentive of the larger bunch made his volume request to my manager, but I was told that it might be Rhianna. Either way, I thought it was a rather tame song for the moment and suspected the unhappiness had something to do more with the conversation coming from those three nearby patrons I mentioned.

I briefly feared that their displeasure with whatever seemed to make the people quiet and generally antisocial for the evening would be reflected in my tip, but instead each of the separate checks was paid with respectable—more than 20 percent, in one case—gratuity.

The Mexicans, however, left a little over three on a nearly $37 bill—which is more than they usually leave, according to the co-worker of mine who seems better than I at remembering the faces that go along with the bad tips.

I’d prefer to think this is because I don’t get too many bad tips, but really it’s just more a case of not letting one letdown ruin an entire evening/afternoon.
